Maximal endurance and mass reduction
The owner of the X-raid stable proposed the idea of lowering the component mass of the quite heavy vehicle MINI John Cooper Works, which takes part in the Dakar Rally, so that the annually modernized vehicle can undergo an even greater mass reduction.
The main assumption of the X-raid team was reduction of the vehicle mass by a minimum of 40-50 kg, with the preservation of the realization deadline, making it possible to prepare the vehicle for the next Dakar Rally.
The information obtained from the client about the shape as well as the plans of laminating the mounted parts of the vehicle was analysed by our project team. The verification of the parameters made it possible to optimize the profile and construction of some of the vehicle parts which require special strength while covering the extreme routes of the Dakar Rally. As a result of our team’s work, both the material concept of the produced parts and the applied lamination technology were radically changed.
