The Artech company did search for find a contractor that can handle the design assumptions of their unique project for the mining industry. The capsule idea was to connect durability, fire resistance and low weight.
During a short period of time, we succeeded in developing and constructing a complete light rescue pod which met the strength and refractoriness requirements.
For the whole project, we prepared material samples, which underwent tests under conditions which can be present in a zone of explosion or fire risk. We have obtained a certificate for this material. This material has properties close to those of pyrogel (the best known isolation material) and the obtained fire battery was much better than the assumed one – a few minutes of exposure to open fire and high temperatures.
For the needs of the project, the shape of the surface of the capsule and the stretcher were developed, which were used to carry miners who suffered injuries. As a result, we obtained the body mass below 50 kg, which, after proper modification, can be reduced to 30 kg, and the strength was confirmed during real tests in the mine.
